Also, we know of a couple of mad scientists that work these cards to make them function seamlessly under OS X. If we find one that boots and functions correctly without patching of firmware or drivers, we will definitely post an article about it. We are continually experimenting with alternate GPUs. We no longer have it but I doubt it will under Mountain Lion without some tweaking or amending of the firmware. We tried the Radeon HD 7970 under Lion but it would not boot. Lion - including the GeForce GTX 570 and 580 - require some firmware changes to boot - and driver patch to support OpenCL. All the ones we've tested recently under Lion and Mt. "I've heard reports that some NVIDIA cards work with OS X Mountain Lion but have not confirmed that in our lab. Unfortunately I couldn't lend the card, but I have spoken with some guys from about the whole gfx card situation, and I got the following reply I thought I would share:
